Uno-mania Tempered By Reality in Media Coverage
In the aftermath of his big Westminster win, Uno has become Top Dog of Mainstreet, USA. In fact, March 4th has been dubbed "Uno Day" in the state of Illinois (home to one of his owners), and rumor has it that he will have his own float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade this November.
But, interjecting a dose of reality into the Beagle-craze, several Beagle rescue organizations have gone on record in the media to express their concerns regarding careful placement of Beagles to the right homes.
Cindy and Gary Peterson, the directors of Hokie's Hounds Beagle Rescue in Prairieville, Louisiana, were interviewed recently. With humor and insightful stories about their rescued dogs, they've done a nice job of explaining the need for careful adoption screening and breed education.
