Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

August 25, 2008

Did Skipper grow?? No, this is Tuie, who belongs to Phillip's sister Sara. Tuie arrived last Wednesday, just hours after Skipper went home. Tuie is a sheltie, a herding dog and let me tell you, this girl works CONSTANTLY. Her job here is to keep all the humans from leaving the house. All I have to do is angle myself towards the stairs in the hallway and she goes on high alert. If you actually go outside then she turns into a whirling dervish of barking and commotion. If you can get out the door and into the car, she runs the fence. Poor Tuie, I wish she was able to take a vacation. Ok, next. See that piece of wood behind Tuie? That's part of the second crate that Phillip has recently made by hand.

See the maestro inspect his work. (I don't know what the heck was on TV.) Phillip started these a couple of weeks ago and as you can see is just about done. He made two so we can have one upstairs and one down. The completed crate is made of cherry, maple, paduke and wingi. (I kid you not, I looked those words up on Wikipedia.) The crate in progress is made of poplar and stained to look like cherry. He wishes he'd used cherry and maple for both. Live and learn.

You need a permit to build anything in New Jersey and this is no exception. Here's Clayton inspecting the new roof. He likes the crate and has gone into it several times. If you haven't taken a close look at the other furniture that Phillip has built, check it out!
